Mobley’s Monday Message 4-25-22

Good morning, SEA!

Sure was nice to finally enjoy all that spring weather this past weekend, rain and all!  It was a busy weekend for SEA and members of Region 35 as we had our annual SPARKS event for early career educators from our membership.  What a way to start of the event with some axe throwing at Bulls-eye Axe Lounge.  What a great way to release some tension!  This week’s Monday Message has just a few photos from SPARKS as well as last week’s General Meeting.  Thank you to all of our attendees who joined us for those events!

In this week’s Monday Message, not only will you find those highlights but you will also find information about the open positions on our 2022-2023 SEA Executive Board.  Currently the open positions are:  dual/bilingual services liaison, special services liaison, elementary instructional services liaison, early childhood liaison, and webmaster.  Please take a moment to read through the descriptions to see if if is something you would like to get involved in.  Here is a link to a google form for you to fill out in order to apply for the appointment to any of those positions.

That is it for now. It was nice to start listing important dates for May which means we are starting to wrap things up for this 2021-2022 School Year.  Have a great week everyone!

Mobley’s Monday Message 3-7-22

Good morning, SEA!

Welcome to the month of March and the final trimester of this school year. That teaser of spring-like weather on Saturday was so unfair now that the snow is back.  Hope you got to enjoy a little bit of time outdoors!

Here is the link to the March 7 Edition of the Monday Message.

Some of the important links and other information are listed below:

Just one other thing that came to my attention last week…not everyone was aware that next Tuesday, March 15 is now a regular day of school.  Initially it was an election day, but because the election was moved to June, the District 54 calendar was changed.  Our last day of school with students is now May 25, with Record’s Day being May 26.   Be sure to adjust your calendars accordingly.

Mobley’s Monday Message 2-28-22

Welcome to the last day of February, SEA!

As you know, effective today Monday, Feb. 28, the Illinois school mask mandate has been lifted.  As Superintendent DuRoss shared in his community message yesterday, students and staff will still be allowed to wear masks in school if they choose.  Additionally, District 54 will no longer require masks on buses.

This week’s Monday Message has some important information regarding our contract ratification process and an informational meeting we will be holding on Wednesday, March 16, during staff development in which all members are invited to attend to find out more about all of the tentative agreements.  We will be having a virtual election on Friday, March 18, in which our members will vote “Yes” or “No” to approved the contract.  Attached to this email is the election notice that our building reps have been asked to post on your SEA boards. We understand this is over two weeks away, but SEEO is still in negotiations and our SEA team worked with the district to allow us to present during staff development.  This allows all groups the time they need to prepare as necessary.

Other information from this week’s Monday Message (Feb. 28 Edition) includes:

  • 2021-2022 SEA Award Nominations
  • Performers needed for our General Meeting:
Singer of the National Anthem, Dual Language/Immersion Student(s) to lead the Pledge of Allegiance

NEA’s Read Across America

Mobley’s Monday Message 2-21-22

Happy Presidents’ Day, SEA!

Thank you for being so quick to adapt to a virtual format for our parent/teacher conferences last week.  I hope you have been able to find some well-deserved downtime this weekend.

Here are some of the highlights and links from this week’s Monday Message:

I have also attached the nomination forms to be a Building Rep or a Region 35 Council Rep during the 2022-2023 School Year once again this week.  The Monday Message shares a little bit more about these roles.  I appreciate the way in which our building reps have really stepped it up over the past couple of years to support all of the SEA members in your buildings.  It is such a valued role! You will see that some of your buildings still have opportunities for more representation.  If you have never been a representative before and want to find out more about what it entails, feel free to give me a call.

Mobley’s Monday Message 2-14-22

Good morning SEA,

Hope you had a good weekend and got to enjoy whatever part of Super Bowl Sunday you like best, whether it be the commercials, the half-time show, the snacks, or the actual game itself!

With conferences just ahead, this week’s Monday Message includes a review of the conference expectations for staff and February’s Contract Tidbits which reviews night commitments for our members.

You can also find copies of an Election Notice and nomination forms to be a Building Representative or a Region 35 Council Rep for the 2022-2023 School Year attached.  Just a reminder that nomination forms to be a delegate at this summer’s NEA Representative Assembly in Chicago are due today to Kelly O’Reilly (RAC).

Here are other important links for you this week:

Our monthly SEA Building Rep meeting is today from 3:30-4:30 PM at the PLC.  All members are welcome to attend.  Meetings are being held in person as well as a virtual option.  For the link to the Zoom, please email me.  Superintendent DuRoss will be attending and accompanying him will be Dr. Nick Myers and Darcy Kriha who will all be speaking about District 54’s COVID-19 mitigation protocols.
