Mobley’s Monday Message 10-9-18

You did it!  You got through the first round of conferences!  Hope you had some relaxation time over this past weekend and are ready for the week ahead.

Food Drive

At next week’s Building Representative Meeting, the SEA will be having a Food Drive.  If you would like to make a canned food or other non-perishable food, please bring these items to school to your building rep by Monday, October 15th.  The SEA is not only making a financial donation to the new Community Closets and Food Pantries in our district, but we will be making this food donation as well.

Fox and Hound Outing – This Wednesday

On Wednesday, we will have our first SEA Member gathering of the year at the Fox & Hound beginning at 3:30 PM.  Come relax, hangout with members across our district, and say hi to me, the one who sends you these emails every Monday morning!  Please email me if you are going to be attending so I can be sure to have just the right amount of space and appetizers for us.

Open Positions on the SEA Exec Board

Our Executive Board currently has two open positions.  We are looking for a Historian Chair who is responsible for organizing and recording historical data that is valuable as an addition to our SEA archives.   Additionally, we are looking for a Social Media Chair who will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and monitoring any and all social media approved by the Exec Board.  I have been currently updating our Facebook and Twitter accounts, but would love for our association to have an Instagram as well.  If you are at all interested, I have attached the list of appointments available and a few application questions.  Please respond by this Friday, October 12th, if you are at all interested.

Follow Us on Social Media

Speaking of social media, if you haven’t already done so, please visit SEA’s FB page and like us or follow us on Twitter (@D54SEA).    One of the most visited places I am on just about daily is our SEA Website, especially to access our contract. Thank you to SEA’s Webmaster, Heidi Kay, for updating the website with my Monday Messages each week!

SCORE Grants

Next round of IEA’s SCORE Grant applications are due January 21, 2019.  The purpose of SCORE is to encourage early career members and their local associations to collaborate and create opportunities for community service projects or school projects.  For a list of previous winners and ideas, as well as this year’s application, click here.

Lanyards Available

As a reminder, we are selling SEA lanyards for $5.  If you are interested in purchasing one, please sign-up with your building rep.  Please pay using cash or checks payable to the “Schaumburg Education Association”.  I will have lanyards at next week’s building rep meeting available for pick-up and delivery.

Enjoy your shortened week and hope to see you at Fox and the Hound on Wednesday!
