Mobley’s Monday Message 9-23-19

“The fact that you worry about being a good teacher, means you already are one.” ~Jodi Picoult

Happy first day of Autumn! Looks like we are going to have a lot of extra sunshine today to make up for the rainy weekend we just had. Luckily the rain held off for yesterday’s Run to Read event which many of you attended or volunteered at.  I know District 54 really appreciates our support at events they sponsor!

NEA’s Attorney Referral Program

Did you know that as a member of SEA, IEA, & NEA, you have access to the NEA Attorney Referral Program.  This allows you two free 30-minute sessions with an attorney to discuss any of the following: wills/estates, real estate, domestic relations, traffic violations, and consumer protection.  I have attached more information about this program which includes a list of attorneys available to you.

SEA Spirit Wear

As a reminder, SEA’s Spirit Wear is available to order through next Monday, September 30th.  There are more choices and new designs for you to choose from this year, including polo shirts, hoodies, and jackets.  To place an order, please visit: http://coachsassistant.gtmsportswear.com/SchaumburgEA

You will receive your orders at your schools by the end of October.

Building Visits

Last week I had the opportunity to visit with the principals at MacArthur, Eisenhower, Dooley, Fox, Muir, Mead, and Einstein.  I also had a special invitation to attend Lincoln Prairie’s Middle Level Career Fair.  If there are special events happening at your school, invitations to attend are always welcomed!
This week I have appointments at the following schools:

*Monday – Muir 9 AM; Armstrong 10:15 AM
*Tuesday – Collins 10:30 AM; Enders-Salk 1 PM

*Thursday – Blackwell 12:00 PM

*Friday – Hoover 9:00 AM; Frost 10:15 AM

Important Dates in September

*September 23 (TODAY!): NEW Building Representative Training in the Board Room from 3:45 – 5:45 PM – If you are thinking of running or know you are running for a building representative in our upcoming SEA special elections, you are welcome to attend today’s training.

This Day in History

On September 23, 1846, German astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle discovers the eighth planet, the blue gas giant, Neptune, at the Berlin Observatory.  Neptune has a diameter four times that of Earth.

A challenge to you today…find someone in your building you didn’t get a chance to speak with last week and find out what  one of their highlights from the last weekend of summer was…maybe it was riding roller coasters in the rain at Six Flags yesterday like me (that was definitely a peak family moment)!
