Mobley’s Message 9-05-2022

Happy Labor Day, SEA!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend.  What a nice weekend it has been so far!

Though I hope you are not checking this email on your holiday, I wanted to at least send out this week’s edition 9/5 Edition of the Monday Message on a Monday.

In this week’s Monday Message, you will find out about SEA’s Special Elections and whether or not your school is able to have additional Building Representatives.  If you are interested, the Special Election Building Rep nomination form is attached.

Did you know SEA has its own Shared Drive available for you to access using your District Google Drive?  You can find shared SEA documents, archives of the Monday Message, and other important information.  Many of our members have discovered that it needs to be unhidden in order to access it.  Click on “Hidden Shared Drives” and you should be able to locate it.

Also, last week’s Monday Message had information about a “Teacher Leadership Pathways Program”.  I have been working with IEA’s Opportunity Coalition to lower the price should we have a group of at least 3-5 members from the SEA.  We would be able to have our own cohort formed.  Additionally, the SEA Exec Board and Region 35 Executive Team voted to fund any of our SEA members who are interested in participating.  Links to find out more information are included in the Monday Message.  There is also a form for you to show your interest so that a separate registration can be formed for our SEA members.  Please fill out the form by the end of this week, as sessions are scheduled to begin later this month.  We will be in contact with those interested and assist you in making the funding request from SEA and Region 35.

Hope you are having a fantastic start to September!

Mobley’s Message 8-29-2022

Good morning, SEA!

Looking forward to the three day weekend ahead?   ME TOO!

Here is your weekly Monday Message for 8/29.

Also attached to this post is a copy of IEA’s Insider which has some valuable information from the month of August.  Please note, the IEA spirit wear store has closed, however the SEA will be opening up their own Spirt Wear Store which is COMING SOON!

In the “Membership Opportunities” section of this week’s Monday Message, you will find some information about a new “Teacher Leadership Pathways Project” being offered from the Illinois Education Association’s Opportunity Coalition and Northwestern University.   They are willing to lower the price of the program if we have a group of 3 or more SEA members interested.  Be sure to fill out the form in the Monday Message if you are at all interested so we can work with the Opportunity Coalition for the discount.

Looking forward to meeting with SEA’s Executive Board today afterschool.

Enjoy these last few days of August, everyone!

Mobley’s Monday Message 4-25-22

Good morning, SEA!

Sure was nice to finally enjoy all that spring weather this past weekend, rain and all!  It was a busy weekend for SEA and members of Region 35 as we had our annual SPARKS event for early career educators from our membership.  What a way to start of the event with some axe throwing at Bulls-eye Axe Lounge.  What a great way to release some tension!  This week’s Monday Message has just a few photos from SPARKS as well as last week’s General Meeting.  Thank you to all of our attendees who joined us for those events!

In this week’s Monday Message, not only will you find those highlights but you will also find information about the open positions on our 2022-2023 SEA Executive Board.  Currently the open positions are:  dual/bilingual services liaison, special services liaison, elementary instructional services liaison, early childhood liaison, and webmaster.  Please take a moment to read through the descriptions to see if if is something you would like to get involved in.  Here is a link to a google form for you to fill out in order to apply for the appointment to any of those positions.

That is it for now. It was nice to start listing important dates for May which means we are starting to wrap things up for this 2021-2022 School Year.  Have a great week everyone!

Mobley’s Monday Message 4-18-22

Good morning, SEA!

Today is the election for 2022-2023 School Year Building Representatives and Region 35 Council Members. Hopefully you have already received your ballot to vote in our Building Representative Election.

Please note, when you open your ballot you should see YOUR building name, however you may be seeing “Kelly O’Reilly’s” name; however, the ballot is still unique only to you.  Kelly has check on her end as ballots are already coming through and can see the individual names of our SEA members who have vote.  If you have any other issues with your ballot, please contact SEA’s Elections Chair Kelly O’Reilly (kellyoreilly@sd54.org).  Don’t forget to participate by 6 PM today!

We have made it to day of our annual SEA/SEEO General Meeting.  Kathy Jesuit and I are excited to welcome our members and guests to our event today afterschool at the PLC.  We will have virtual entertainment from 4-4:15 PM and the meeting will start promptly at 4:15 PM. If you are attending in-person, be sure to arrive a few minutes early to sign-in.  If you are interested in participating in our 50/50 Drawing, be sure to bring some cash.  We will also have door prizes that will be given away at the end of the meeting.  You must be present (or still on the Zoom) to win.  Even if you didn’t RSVP, you can still join the meeting via Zoom!

Here is this week’s edition of the Monday Message

Attached to this email you will find the minutes from the 2021 SEA/SEEO Virtual General Meeting.  We will be taking action to approve these minutes at today’s General Meeting.

Also attached to this email, you will find April’s Contract Tidbits which reviews contract language on vacancies and transfers.

What a big week this is for SEA and Region 35!  We kick it off with the elections and the General Meeting, and then end it with our special event for early career members, SPARKS!  Looking forward to seeing many of you afterschool today at the PLC!
