Mobley’s Monday Message 9-24-18

“Connect first, then your leadership becomes a gift, not a threat.”

(Thanks to Eisenhower’s “Toilet Times” for this quote)

How about yesterday’s Run to Read? Did you go? Did you see your school’s mascot run? It was definitely a great start to my Sunday morning! The weather couldn’t have been any better for running a 5K. It was nice to see so many teacher participants and volunteers at this event.

Today afterschool is our Building Representative Training at the PLC from 3:45-5:30 PM. Please thank your building reps for attending and for going through our new training modules for being one of our MVP SEA Building reps.

Tomorrow afterschool is SEA’s Trivia Night for our early career teachers has been cancelled. We will keep you posted on our future teambuilding events.

Our first all member outing will be on Wednesday, October 10th, at Fox & Hound (1416 N. Roselle Rd, Schaumburg) beginning at 3:30 PM. Come when your staff development is over. It’s an opportunity to meet our SEA leadership and mingle with members across our district. If you are interested in attending, reply to my email so I can reserve the right amount of space for us. Mark your calendars!

This Friday is the last day to place your SEA Spirit Wear. Click here to place your order today.  Use the access code SEASEA. . Orders will be delivered to your schools by the end of October.

We now have SEA lanyards available for $5. Your building rep has a sign-up sheet. You can make checks payable to the Schaumburg Education Association.

On Thursday, October 11th, at 5:00 PM, at the Palatine Illinois Education Association office, there will be a presentation on Federal Student Loan Forgiveness. This will be a one-hour presentation where you can learn more about student loan forgiveness, what it means to be a member of an education association, and the benefits of membership. If you are someone still with student loans you are trying to pay off, this should be a great event for you to attend. Visit IEA’s website at to register today. Last week I had the pleasure of visiting MacArthur, Armstrong, Muir, Addams, Dirksen, Collins, & Campanelli. This week I’ll be wrapping up my district tour as I stop by Stevenson, Keller, Lakeview, Early Childhood Center, and Churchill. Maybe your administrator will stop by your room with me!

Find a colleague you haven’t talked to this year and have a conversation with them to connect or reconnect with them! Keep building up those positive relationships in your schools. Have a great week!
